SYNOPSIS
The documentary, which portrays a day in the life of Betty, a transgender woman living in Athens, introduces us to a character far beyond her time. Stavrakas' camera closely follows Betty's everyday life, bearing witness to her experiences on Syngrou Avenue, where she transforms into a fairy and goes to work. Fearlessly facing the camera, we witness the stories of the harassment she has endured throughout her life, and as we listen, the day ends, blending the past and the present.
Dimitris Stavrakas (1938-2012)
Atina’da doğdu. Stavrakou Film Okulu’nda eğitim aldı. Dimitris Stavrakas, 1938 yılında Atina’da doğdu. 1966’da ilk kısa filmi olan “To Gazi”yi yönetti. 1979 yapımı belgeseli “Betty”, sinemalarda Federico Fellini’nin “Orchestra Rehearsal” filminden önce gösterildi. 1983’te ilk uzun filmi “Misunderstanding”, Yunan Devlet Sinema Ödülleri’nde En İyi Film seçildi. 1999’da “The Canary Yellow Bicycle” ile Kahire, İsfahan, Houston ve Zlín festivallerinde ödüller aldı. Aynı yıl, Türkiye ve Bangladeş’te “The Crossing” adlı filmi çekti.
