The film depicting the final days before the death of Lord Byron, a 19th-century Romantic poet, is almost a tribute to the political beliefs and struggles of that era. Nikos Koundouros (1926-2017)<\/span><\/h5>

He was born in the city Agios Nikolaos of Crete. He studied painting and sculpture at Athens School of Fine Arts. Because of his political opinions, he was sent to the concentration camp in Makronisos Island after World War 2. His first feature film, which starred Thanasis Veggos, whom he had met at the camp, \u201cMaghiki Polis (The Magic City)\u201d was nominated for the Golden Lion in Venice in 1954. He continued his success in 1956 with \u201cDracos (Dragon)\u201d and \u201cThe Ogre of Athens\u201d which received the Silver Bear from the Berlinale. His films were shown at many international film festivals and received awards in the 50s and 60s.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
