SYNOPSIS<\/h5>

Euripides wrote \u201cTrojan Women\u201d one of a trilogy of plays, in 415 B.C.\ncondemning the complete devastation of Milos Island, slaughtering\nmen and enslaving women and children, committed by the Athenians\nduring the Peloponnesian war. He used the myth of Trojan War to\narouse emotions against militarism, war and suppression.\nHecuba, Queen of the Trojans and mother of Hector, one of Troy\u2019s most\n\nfearsome warriors, looks upon the remains of her kingdom; Andromache, widow of the slain Hector and mother of his son, Astyanax, must\n\nraise her kid in the war\u2019s aftermath; however, Talthybius, the messenger\n\nof the Achaeans, enters the ruined city, to announce that King Agamemnon and his brother Menelaus have decreed that Astyanax, the last of\n\nthe male royalty of Troy must be executed to ensure the extinction of the\nline. Also, Cassandra, Hecuba\u2019s young daughter, priestess of Artemis and\nthus virgin by oath, who has been driven insane by the ravages of war,\nis chosen by King Agamemnon to be his concubine. At the same time\nthat Helen of Troy waits to see if she will live. The focus is placed on the\ndefeated and their constant grief. It presents, the violent transformation\n\nof noble Trojan women into mourners and slaves from then on while depicting the heroic winners behaving as savages.\n\nMichael Cacoyannis noted: \u201cEuripides had the courage to raise his\nrebellious cry, despite the danger of his potential exile. By shooting\nthis film, I had the desire to unite our voices. Today the world must be\nawakened! When \u2018Trojan Women\u2019 visited America, they spoke about\n\nHiroshima. In Paris, they saw Algeria.\u201d The Trojan Women is an emblematic testimony of the horrors of war, relevant as ever in our times.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
