SYNOPSIS

The film by Theo Angelopoulos, regarded as the pinnacle of New Greek Cinema, follows a theater troupe traveling across Greece from 1939 to 1952. While they stage the pastoral folk tale "Golfo," the actors live the drama of the Aeschylus' Oresteia Trilogy in their own lives. The traumatic history of Greece intertwines with the private lives of the group members.
